Can you believe we’re into the second quarter of 2024 already? As usual, our events calendar is bursting with fun and interesting events in Tucson this April. 

From music festivals to drink tastings, Earth Day celebrations to live theater, there’s something for every person and style this month. 

Here are 15 fun things to do in Tucson this April 2024. 

1. 2024 Tucson Folk Festival

Date and Time: April 5-7, 2024

Location: Various locations in downtown Tucson

Cost: Free 

What’s going on: The 39th annual Tucson Folk Festival celebrates music traditions like Americana, folk, bluegrass, blues, country, Latin, and so much more. It’s a family-friendly event with over 150 performances across six stages. Come out to hear some music and make some memories!

2. Wine Gone Wild

Date and Time: April 6, 2024 from 6:00-8:30 p.m.

Location: Reid Park Zoo, 3400 Zoo Court

Cost: $65.00 for the general public; $30 for designated drivers

What’s going on: Raise your glass, try some wines, and stroll through the Zoo—all for a great cause! Proceeds of the event go to support education programs and conservation efforts at the Zoo. Your ticket includes 10 tastings, a commemorative sampling glass, food sampling, and fun activities and events. 

3. Baja Beer Festival

Date and Time: April 6, 2024 at 1:00 p.m.

Location: Armory Park, 222 S. 5th Avenue

Cost: Tickets start at $15.00 for designated drivers and $50.00 for general admission. 

What’s going on: Back for the 8th year, the Baja Beer Festival is bringing some of the best brews from Arizona’s top breweries. Try something new, grab a bite to eat (costs extra), and hang out with friends at this laid-back event.

4. Solar Eclipse Event in Tucson

Date and Time: April 8, 2024 from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

Location: Flandrau Science Center & Planetarium, 1601 E University Blvd.

Cost: Free; reduced science exhibit and planetarium shows for $5.00 after the eclipse

What’s going on: The next solar eclipse is on April 8, when the Moon covers 75% of the sun’s diameter. Tucson won’t see something else like this for another 21 years! Come use the solar telescopes to see this unique phenomenon.

5. CEO Roundtable: Matt Baquet, Ranch House Media

Date and Time: April 9, 2024 at 5:30 p.m.

Location: Nook, 1 E Congress St. 

Cost: $20.00

What’s going on: Hosted by Tucson Young Professionals, this CEO Roundtable features Matt Baquet, the founder and executive producer at Ranch House Media. Hear about his entrepreneurial journey and engage in interesting conversations with other entrepreneurs in the city.

6. The Great Paper Airplane Fly-Off

Date and Time: April 13, 2024 from 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

Location: Pima Air & Space Museum, 6000 E Valencia Road

Cost: Free (participant and up to four guests)

What’s going on: Your kids will love this event! Children ages 6-14 can come out and compete to throw the farthest paper airplane. There are different age brackets and winners receive awesome prizes; lunch is provided.

7. Sunset Supper at Tucson Village Farm

Date and Time: April 13, 2024 at 7:00 p.m.

Location: Tucson Village Farm 4-H Healthy Living Center, 2201 East Roger Road

Cost: $64.29

What’s going on: Enjoy a memorable farm-to-table dinner from esteemed Chef Bruce Yim. This four-course meal is hosted in a beautiful location boasting great sunset views. All proceeds from the event will go to support 4-H youth programming at Tucson Village Farm. 

8. 32nd Arizona International Film Festival

Date and Time: April 17-28, 2024

Location: Various venues

What’s going on: Back for the 32nd year, the Arizona International Film Festival is the place to explore thought-provoking, beautiful, and entertaining films. Bring out your friends and family and catch a flick or two.

9. MezCrawl

Date and Time: April 18, 2024 at 5:00 p.m.

Location: Hotel Congress Plaza, 311 E Congress St. 

Cost: $70.00

What’s going on: Enjoy a night out trying new agave mezcal drinks and cocktails. There are 12 participating Tucson restaurants, light bites, and lots of good times. 

10. Pima County Fair

Date and Time: April 18-28, 2024; gates open at 3:00 p.m. Monday-Friday and 11:00 a.m. Saturday-Sunday

Location: Pima County Fairgrounds, 11300 S Houghton Rd

Cost: $12.00 for general admission; $8.00 for military and seniors; $6.00 for youth

What’s going on: Spend a day at the fair! Enjoy your favorite fair food, catch a fun performance, or make memories at live music concerts. 

11. Earth Day Event: Music on the Trails

Date and Time: April 20, 2024 from 4:00-8:00 p.m.

Location: Oracle State Park, 3820 E Wildlife Drive

Cost: Free

What’s going on: Celebrate the Earth with the best possible activity—being outside in nature listening to beautiful music. There will be a variety of musicians playing music as you hike along the nature trail, ending with a performance at the historical Kannally Ranch House.

12. La Encantada Fine Art Festival

Date and Time: April 20-21, 2024; Saturday from 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and Sunday from 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

Location: La Encantada Shopping Center, 2905 E Skyline Drive

Cost: Free; bring money to shop

What’s going on: Hosted three times a year, this fine art festival features a diverse group of emerging and established sculptors. You’ll see art from sculptors, jewelers, painters, and mixed media artists. 

13. Earth Day Festival

Date and Time: April 20, 2024 from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

Location: Children’s Museum Tucson, 200 6th Avenue

Cost: Free

What’s going on: Celebrate the Earth and discover how to make the world a healthier, greener place to live. This family-friendly event will have activities for all ages.

14. Desert Wolf Paint and Sip at Bawker Bawker Cider

Location: Bawker Bawker Cider House, 400 N. Fourth Ave

Cost: $45.00

What’s going on: Whether you love to paint already or just want to try something new, this is the event for you! An artist will guide you through a three-hour lesson to create a beautiful painting while you sip away on your favorite beverage. 

15. Broadway in Tucson: Hairspray

What’s going on: You can’t stop the beat! Enjoy this and all your favorite songs from Broadway’s Tony Award-winning musical comedy set in 1960s Baltimore. It’s colorful, it’s fun, and you’re guaranteed a great time.
