Member Spotlight: How Skytale Digital Brings More Guests into Restaurants

Chelle Peterson

For Luke Januschka and Mike Coborn, Managing Partners at Skytale Digital, going to work every morning means another opportunity to help restaurants fill their seats with brand-new customers.

“We build profitable ads for restaurants,” Luke explains. “What this means is that we immediately bring them more guests without them having to do any extra work.”

And for restaurants, more guests mean more revenue — a metric that’s more important than ever in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Helping Restaurants Owners Invest in Ads That Actually Work

For restaurant owners, shelling out cash on ads that aren’t providing a return on investment is nothing short of wasteful.

Luke explains, “One of the big problems restaurant owners experience is that they’re either spending money and crossing their fingers or they’re simply not spending any money and trying to grow their business.”

This is no surprise. Restauranteurs are experts in creating incredible dining experiences, not digital advertising.

“There’s a common thread that we see a lot in our field,” says Luke. “Restaurant owners often don’t know where to start when it comes to advertising and they don’t know what to do. It’s not simple or intuitive. And that’s where we come in. We know what works and what doesn’t, we have a program that can track it and report it, and, most importantly, we can show restaurant owners where their money is going, right down to the penny.”

He adds, “Because of that, it’s not a hoping game or a guessing game.”

A Business That Began from Identifying a Need

Looking back in time, Skytale Digital was created based on the identification of a need and an opportunity.

“I used to work for a tech start-up,” says Luke. “We sold marketing technology to restaurants. But I realized that the company I worked for wasn’t really providing the greatest service and it didn’t really help restaurant owners as much as we said it would.”

This didn’t sit right with him.

“That’s when I knew it was time for a change,” Luke explains. “I had always wanted to run my own business. I also knew the restaurant industry well and I knew there was a big skill gap. Marketing is not a priority for restauranteurs because they already work so hard as it is. They have so many other things on their plates, they don’t have the bandwidth to learn how to advertise.”

He adds, “I realized there was an opportunity to do a much better job for restaurant owners and I understood what the average restauranteur is doing now versus what the possibilities are with today’s technology.”

And with that, Skytale Digital was born.

Supporting the Success of Restaurants of All Sizes

Fast forward to today, Skytale Digital works with restaurants of all sizes to help them bring in new customers and boost their bottom lines.

“Our average client has either one or a few locations,” Luke explains. “We also work with some larger groups as well — the ones with 30, 40, 50 locations.”

Skytale Digital helps restaurant owners address one of their biggest challenges.

Luke explains, “Believe it or not, 99% of restaurants are not at capacity so any incremental sales we can bring them are going to add to their profits. The math is simple: the more customers you can add to your restaurant, the more profitable you’ll be. And that’s where we come in.”

For Luke and Mike, helping restaurant owners thrive is a rewarding endeavor.

“The most reward part of our work is seeing customers have success,” says Luke. “When we follow through on our promises and people are happy, that’s pretty cool. We’ve helped a lot of people grow their sales massively.”

Finding a Home for Skytale Digital

As their business grew, Luke and Mike knew it was time to find a professional office space where they could operate their business.

“We were working from home for about a year,” says Luke. “Once we grew enough, we wanted to move into an office. We really saw The Post as a good place to be productive at work and to have a space that’s dedicated entirely to running our business.”

He adds, “Since we both moved down to Tucson from Scottsdale, we didn’t know a ton of people and we wanted to make connections. It’s been perfect — exactly what we were looking for. The amenities are great, the owners are nice, there’s free coffee, and conference rooms. Everything you need is there.”
