It’s February, and you know what that means. The holidays are over and we’re a whole month into the new year. 

You may be feeling a bit of the “blahs.” But fear not! There are tons of awesome things to do in Tucson this month.

Here are some of the top events and activities to check out in February:

1. Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back—In Concert

Date and Time: Friday, February 11 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, February 11 at 4:00 p.m.

Location: Tucson Symphony Orchestra, 2175 N. Sixth Avenue.

Cost: $17-$88 depending on your seat.

What’s going on: Calling all Star Wars fans! Here’s your chance to live the magic and hear the entirety of John Williams’ score played live while watching the iconic film on the big screen.

2. Valentine’s Market

Date and Time: February 11, 12, and 13 from 10:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m.. 

Location: Monterey Village Center, 6212 E. Speedway.

Cost: Free to enter, but bring money to purchase items. 

What’s going on: Come shop for a good cause! The Valentine’s market has a selection of unique gifts from local artists. Proceeds benefit the Southern Arizona Animal Food Bank.

3. Tucson Star Party

Date and Time: Saturday, February 12 from 5:30-8:00 p.m.

Location: Pima Community College, 8181 East Irvington Road.

Cost: Free.

What’s going on: Let’s go stargazing! The Tucson Amateur Astronomy Association and Astronomy Magazine are hosting this annual Star Party at the observatory on Pima Community College’s campus. There will be multiple telescopes set up to view planets, stars, and galaxies!

4. Black Renaissance Presents: A Spoken Word Event

Date and Time: Saturday, February 12 from 7:00-10:00 p.m.

Location: & Gallery, 419 N 4th Avenue.

Cost: Free.

What’s going on: Join this free community event to celebrate Black Culture during Black History Month! Spoken word is an art form that expresses the full range of human emotions and experiences. The featured artist is Zora Thomas, among others.

5. 5th Annual Onesie Bar Crawl

Date and Time: February 12 from 4:00 p.m. onwards.

Location: The Funky Monk, 350 East Congress Street.

Cost: $18-22.50, depending on single or group tickets; bring additional money for drinks. Two drinks are included and cover is waived at all venues.

What’s going on: This is definitely the comfiest way to have a few drinks! The onesie bar crawl is an annual event with over 1,000 participants! Join the group as they crawl to various bars and pubs, enjoying local drinks and food along the way!

6. Club LUVever

Date and Time: Monday, February 14 from 9:00 p.m. onwards.

Location: Hotel Congress Plaza, 311 E Congress Street.

Cost: Free entrance.

What’s going on: Grab your loved one and go out for a night to remember! This 21+ event has resident and guest DJs, a pop-up shop, and other fun surprises. 

7. Downtown Public Art Walking Tour

Date and Time: Multiple times available on Saturday, February 19 or Sunday, February 27

Location: Presidio San Agustin del Tucson Museum, 196 N Court Avenue.

Cost: $20 per person ($15 for Presidio Museum Members).

What’s going on: This two-mile walking tour starts at the museum and takes you into the downtown area, stopping at various public art pieces. The guide will teach you about the artist as well as the inspiration and meaning. 

8. Family SciFest

Date and Time: Saturday, February 19 from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

Location: Children’s Museum Tucson, 200 S 6th Avenue.

Cost: Free.

What’s going on: This will be an awesome event for the whole family. With STEM activities and science demonstrations, it’s a great way to explore how much fun science can be!

9. La Fiesta de los Vaqueros Tucson Rodeo

Date and Time: February 19-27.

Location: Tucson Rodeo Grounds, 4823 S. 6th Avenue.

Cost: $18-80, depending on the day and seats.

What’s going on: Get ready for the excitement of the rodeo! This nine-day event is one of the premier rodeos in the US. It will have events like bareback and saddle riding, bull riding, barrel racing, and more!

10. Cruise, BBQ & Blues Car Show

Date and Time: Saturday, February 19 from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

Location: Oro Valley Marketplace, 12155 N Oracle Road..

Cost: $5 admission (10 and under are free).

What’s going on: Great cars, great music, and great food—what else is there? This event brings some of the best car designs out there, with competitions for Best Interior, Best Engine, People’s Choice, and more. There will be blues music live on stage and BBQ on the grill, too! 

11. Docent Art Talk: How Photography Became Art

Date and Time: Wednesday, February 23 from 1:30-2:30 p.m.

Location: Tucson Museum of Art, 140 N Main Avenue.

Cost: $5 (free for members).

What’s going on: Photography wasn’t always considered iconic artwork. Back in the early 20th century, photographers faced a hostile reception from other artists. This presentation will teach you more about how they won acceptance, focusing particularly on the role of women and people of color.
