Spring is in the air! It’s a great time to get outside, explore the city, and see what awesome things there are to do in Tucson. 

This city is full of fun events, no matter your age or interests.

From Easter events to outdoor festivals, we have you covered. Here are the top 12 things to do in Tucson in April. 

1. Beavers & Brews: Castoriando con Chelas

Date and Time: Thursday, April 7 from 5:30-8:30 p.m.

Location: 1137 N Dodge Blvd.

Cost: $10 tickets in advance, $15 at the door. 

What’s going on: Did you know that April 7 is International Beaver Day? Learn all about these amazing creatures while enjoying the festivities with local beer and wine, Latin Caribbean Fusion cuisine, and activities for all ages! Proceeds go to the “Release the Beaver” campaign from WMG (Watershed Management Group).

2. Tucson Astronomy Festival

Date and Time: Saturday, April 9 from 3:00-9:00 p.m.

Location: Brandi Fenton Memorial Park, 3582 E. River Road.

Cost: Free.

What’s going on: Marvel at the stars! The Tucson Amateur Astronomy Association is hosting its annual festival. There will be telescopes available to observe planets, galaxies, and stars throughout the evening. Bring a picnic dinner with you to enjoy at the park!

3. Borderlands Block Party Beer Festival

Date and Time: Saturday, April 9 from 1:00-5:00 p.m.

Location: Borderlands Brewing Company, 119 E. Toole Avenue.

Cost: $40-50.

What’s going on: In honor of their 11th anniversary, Borderlands is hosting a festival! Come on out and enjoy beer from 10 breweries as well as live music and food trucks.

4. Made in Tucson Market

Date and Time: Sunday, April 10 from 10:00 a.m. to dusk.

Location: East Seventh Street (West of North Fourth Avenue).

Cost: Free. Bring money to shop.

What’s going on: If you love homemade, creative products—this is the place for you! Come and browse over 200 local artists selling everything from jewelry to artwork to candles. It’s a great place to pick up a gift for a loved one!

5. Easter at the Zoo

Date and Time: Saturday, April 16 and Sunday, April 17, 7:30-9:30 a.m.

Location: Reid Park Zoo, 3400 E. Zoo Court.

Cost: $40/adult, $30/kids. 

What’s going on: Make this Easter eggstra special! It’s a fun event at the Reid Zoo with an egg hunt, breakfast, and a visit from the Easter Bunny!

6. Easter at Our Play Place

Date and Time: Saturday, April 16 from 9:00-10:30 a.m.

Location: Our play Place, 3951 W. Costco Drive.

Cost: $15

What’s going on: Another great family-friendly Easter event! Celebrate with an easter egg hunt, themed craft, snacks, and playtime.

7. Kitten Yoga

Date and Time: Saturday, April 16 at 2:15-3:15 p.m.

Location: Barefoot Studio, 7053 N. Oracle Road.

Cost: $20.

What’s going on: Calling all yoga and cat lovers! Enjoy this beginners class surrounded by adorable little kittens! The proceeds of the event go to the Southern Arizona Cat Rescue.

8. Concerts in the Courtyard

Date and Time: Thursday, April 21 from 5:00-7:30 p.m.

Location: Marana Municipal Complex, 11555 W. Civic Center Drive.

Cost: Free.

What’s going on: This month, Heart & Soul will be playing a free concert for everyone to enjoy. This Tucson-based Pop/Rock band has been performing together for 12+ years. Bring a lawn chair, grab some food from a food truck, and enjoy!

9. Tucson Earth Day Festival

Date and Time: Saturday, April 23 from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

Location: Children’s Museum Tucson, 200 S. Sixth Avenue.

Cost: Free.

What’s going on: Learn all about how to make our Earth a greener, healthier place to live. Through interactive exhibits and activities, families and children will learn about recycling, composting, and how to take care of the Earth. It’s a fun, action-packed day for everyone to enjoy.

10. Tucson Poetry Festival

Date and Time: Saturday-Sunday, April 23-24.

Location: Multiple locations around the city.

Cost: Free.

What’s going on: Whether you’re an aspiring poet yourself or need some creative inspiration, join us at the Tucson Poetry Festival. The theme for 2022 is “Poetry and Pause,” celebrated through workshops and readings for people of all ages.

11. Arizona International Film Festival

Date and Time: April 20-30.

Location: Various locations around the city.

Cost: $10.00+

What’s going on: There will be over 3,000 films, created by independent filmmakers, on display during the festival. They represent over 100 countries, giving audiences a diverse array of options to choose from. 

12. Soul Food Wednesday

Date and Time: Wednesday, April 27 from 7:00-10:00 p.m.

Location: MSA Annex, 267 S. Avenida del Convento.

Cost: Free entrance. Bring food for shopping and food.

What’s going on: This event is hosted by Blax Friday and runs every last Wednesday of the month. Come on out and support locally-owned Black businesses by visiting the many merchants and food trucks at the event.
