It’s officially summer, and with that comes a flurry of activities of all sorts—outdoor festivals, art galleries popping up, music and Broadway to be enjoyed…the list goes on and on.
As always, we’ve sorted through the plethora of June festivities and curated a list of some of the most fun, exciting, and interesting events this month has to offer.
From performances by Emmy award-winning Wanda Sykes to thought-provoking and culturally rich art exhibitions, June’s activities will keep you entertained all the way through.

1. The Place Where Clouds Are Formed
Date and Time: April 6th to August 31st, 2024, 10 am – 4:30 pm
Location: Center for Creative Photography, 1030 North Olive Road
Cost: Free
What’s going on: A collaborative photography installation, The Place Where Clouds Are Formed is a rich intersection between spirituality, migration, and current and historical policies. Drawing on the lived experiences of Mexican immigrants, this project boldly shifts the narrative away from the geopolitical concerns of the U.S.-Mexican border and towards the stories and cultural traditions of those who migrate and live in Tucson.
2. Wanda Sykes: Please & Thank You Tour
Date and Time: June 2nd, 2024, 7:30 pm
Location: Fox Tucson Theatre, 17 W. Congress St.
Cost: $65-85
What’s going on: The brilliantly hilarious, Emmy award-winning Wanda Sykes is bringing her talent for comedy to Tucson, Arizona, this June! Known for her role in ‘Moms Mabley’ in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and ‘Gladys Murphy’ in Crank Yankers, she is a true comic—be prepared to laugh out loud the whole way through.
3. Cool Summer Nights at Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum
Date and Time: June 8, 2024-August 24, 2024, 4:30 pm-9 pm
Location: Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum 2021 N. Kinney Rd.
Cost: $29.95 for general admission (ages 13-64), $19.95 for youth (ages 3-12), and free for Desert Museum Members, Native Americans (with Tribal ID or CIB), and children ages 2
What’s going on: Back just in time for the summer heat, Cool Summer Nights is a themed mother nature “exhibition” that takes place at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. From astronomy night to creatures of the night themes, you can walk through the Sonoran Desert for a different activity each time—watch bats perform aerial acrobatics in pursuit of dinner, beavers splash around in their pond, or scorpions glow green under black light. This family-friendly outing is a great way to beat the heat, so bring flashlights and be ready to explore in the cool desert night.
4. Tucson Saguaros Baseball Club
Date and Time: June 6, 2024-July 26, 2024, 7:00 pm
Location: Kino Sports Complex 2500 E Ajo
Cost: $10.00
What’s going on: Sure to be a crowd favorite among baseball fans, this game series will pit the returning Tucson Saguaros against the Pecos League’s Pacific Division, which consists of the Tucson Saguaros, Alpine 6 Cowboys, Austin Weirdos, and the Roswell Invaders. So grab a beer and invite your friends to the Kino Sports Complex this June 6th!
5. The Vault Show: New Acquisitions
Date and Time: May 25 – June 22, 2024, 10:00 am to 4:30 pm
Location: The University of Arizona Museum of Art, 1031 N Olive Road; southeast corner of Speedway Blvd. and Park Ave.
Cost: $8 for general admission, $6 for Seniors (ages 65+) and groups of 10+, and free for students, UAMA Members, UArizona Staff & Faculty, active military personnel, AAM Members, people with a SNAP card or Tribal ID, and children
What’s going on: Aptly named, The Vault is an art collection featuring 7000 works of art spanning across multiple centuries and generations. This exhibition, which runs through the end of June, contains multitudes—a kaleidoscope of thematically diverse stories told through different mediums. Clear your weekend afternoon, this exhibition will take a while.
6. Public Visits to NOIRLab
Date and Time: June 7, 2024-September 6, 9 am-11:30 am
Location: Kitt Peak National Observatory, 950 N. Cherry Avenue
Cost: Free
What’s going on: Are you intrigued by astronomy? If so, you’re not going to want to miss this activity. Starting June 7th, the NOIRLab—an optical and nighttime astronomy research and development center—is opening its doors to the public for an opportunity to walk through the facility and view the sun through solar-safe telescopes. A gleaming silver dome set amidst the stunning backdrop of the red desert terrain, this lab provides the perfect opportunity for astronomy and Carl Sagan fans to learn all things cosmos.
7. Kinky Boots
Date and Time: June 15, 2024, 2 pm and 5 pm starting times
Location: AVA Amphitheatre, Temple of Music and Art, 330 S. Scott Avenue

What’s going on: Broadway brought nonstop entertainment to Tucson last month, and it looks like June will be no different! Starting mid-June, this fabulous, glamorous, and feel-good comedy moves through Charlie’s story as the owner of a drowning Northampton business to runways in Milan. Featuring songs by Grammy and Tony award-winning Cyndi Lauper and choreography by Hairspray’s Jerry Mitchell, this is an energetic and hilarious performance that makes for the perfect fun night out.
8. Sesame Street Live
Date and Time: June 20, 2024, 6 pm
Location: Linda Ronstadt Music Hall 260 S. Church Ave.
Cost: Starting at $27.50
What’s going on: If you’re looking for a fun activity for your kids, this live Sesame Street event may be a hit. You’ll get appearances from crowd-favorite characters like Elmo, Abby Cadabby, and the Cookie Monster, who’ll dance and sing along with you. So grab your tickets and be ready to put on your dancing shoes for this one!
9. Seeds, Saguaros and Skeletons
Date and Time: June 15, 2024-September 1, 2024, 10 am – 4 pm
Location: Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum Ironwood Gallery
Cost: Free
What’s going on: If you’d love to the desert at night but aren’t a fan of watching critters crawl around the Sonora Desert Museum, here’s an alternative for you. Starting mid-June, the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is featuring an exhibition titled Seeds, Saguaros and Skeletons. An exploration of Tucson’s desert biodiversity, this art exhibition is a testament to the cyclical nature of life.
10. T.I. with Chingy
Date and Time: June 20th, 2024 at 8 pm
Location: AVA Amphitheater 5655 W. Valencia Rd.
Cost: $28.00 to $253.36
What’s going on: If you love a 2000s throwback, you’ll be delighted to know that chart-topper and Grammy Award-winning rapper T.I. is performing right at Tucson’s AVA theatre. Known for his hits like “Live Your Life” featuring Rihanna, “Got Your Back” featuring Keri Hilson, and “Whatever You Like”, this concert will be full of nostalgia and definitely one for the books. Chingy, another 00s rap icon known for his hits Right Thurr and Holidae In will be opening for him.
11. Pilot Exploration Summer Camp
Date and Time: June 26, 2024-June 28, 2024, 9 am-3 pm
Location: Pima Air & Space Museum 6000 E Valencia Rd
Cost: $200/child for non-members and $175/child for members
What’s going on: Did you know that the reason the temperature is often cooler by bodies of water is because the warm winds, brought in by the sea or ocean breeze, flow up to higher altitudes (hot air rises) and cooler winds brought from the island are pushed in (cool air sinks)? This is just one example of the cool meteorology facts your kids can learn during the Pilot Exploration mini-weekend camp. They’ll also learn the science of flight, navigation, and how airplane instruments work.
