It’s hard to believe we’re three months into 2022—we’re still processing 2020! The pandemic radically shifted how we work, socialize, and do business over the last two years.

Like you, our members at The Post felt those changes. In the midst of challenging times, they were resilient, learned important business lessons, and continued to push forward with goals and dreams. And, they’re facing 2022 with optimism and excitement!

Here’s what some of The Post members are looking forward to this year.

1. Forming New Partnerships and Supporting Diverse-owned Businesses

Marilyn Johnson of MHJohnson & Associates

The pandemic caused a lot of people to stop and think about what’s important to them. This drove many individuals and businesses to prioritize and commit resources to DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) initiatives.

Marilyn Johnson started her business—in her words—to “empower and strengthen small and mid-sized businesses through education provided by large corporations.”

Marilyn shared what she’s excited for in 2022:

“Over the years our work has impacted over 400 diverse-owned businesses. But now with many companies committing resources and funds to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, the development programs I create are being given even more exposure. I look forward to forging new partnerships with corporate clients to continue the goal of positively impacting small and mid-sized businesses. I am also super excited to continue building the “>SoloCEO platform that will bring much need content to solo entrepreneurs, solopreneurs, through online and in-person channels and our podcast.” –Marilyn Johnson, MHJohnson & Associates Inc.

2. Increased Connections and In-Person Events

Jessica Graves, Attorney at Law

Zoom fatigue, screen fatigue… whatever you call it, it’s tiring! And while there are many effective communication traits of successful remote workers, sometimes you just need that in-person connection.

This is a sentiment shared by Jessica Graves, Attorney at Law:

“I’m really looking forward to being able to meet people in person and start attending meetings, get-togethers, and networking events IN PERSON! I’m beyond Zoom-fatigued and look forward to being able to be in the same room as others without constantly worrying about COVID-19.” -Jessica Graves, www.jessicagraveslaw.com

3. Helping the Community

We love our community and our members do too! Michelle Don Carlos is an Attorney-Mediator and the founder of Mending Souls. Her organization is dedicated to assisting people to resolve their problems in and outside court.

Looking ahead at 2022, Michelle is excited to continue this work. She shared:

“I’m looking forward to helping even more of our community both as an Attorney-Mediator to assist people to resolve their problems in and outside of court, AND to help everyone with their End-of-Life documents, which everyone needs! I also hope more people learn about a non-profit I started called Mending Souls—a non-denominational Free Sewing and Art School at our Charity Factory. They’ve made over 180K items for hospitals, schools, nursing homes, police departments and over 100 Tucson’s agencies to date.” -Michelle Don Carlos, Mending Souls, The Post member
