Summer is in full swing! School’s out, vacation’s on, and it’s the perfect time to explore everything Tucson has to offer. From family-friendly events to 4th of July celebrations to boozy, adult-only nights—there’s something for everyone. 

This is the first summer in a couple of years where we’re back to in-person activities, so your calendar is sure to fill up quickly! Here’s the best of Tucson for July—13 things to do, see, and explore in this city. 

1. LOFT Kids Fest 2022

Date and Time: Every Saturday and Sunday in July, starting July 2; doors open at 9:15 a.m.

Location: 3233 East Speedway Boulevard

Cost: Free

What’s going on: The Loft Cinema is hosting a free, 10-day festival for children of all ages. Each Saturday and Sunday there will be a big-screen movie along with family-friendly games, activities, prizes, and popcorn. 

2. City of Tucson 4th of July Fireworks Celebration

Date and Time: Monday, July 4. Fireworks start at 9:00 p.m., but food trucks are on-site from 7:00 p.m.

Location: “A” Mountain, Sentinel Peak Park

Cost: Free

What’s going on: Celebrate the 4th of July with other Tucsonians at the 25th annual fireworks celebration! It’s going to be a fun night. Make sure to read ahead about parking and road closures, as they’re expecting a large crowd. 

3. IndepenDANCE Party

Date and Time: Monday, July 4, 7:00-10:00 p.m.

Location: MSA Annex, 267 S. Avenida del Convento

Cost: $10.00 in advance, $15.00 at the door

What’s going on: Dance the night away and celebrate the 4th of July at the MSA Annex. There will be DJs, fire and stilt dancers, food trucks, and drinks available. 

4. Cat Trivia Night

Date and Time: Friday, July 8 from 7:00-8:00 p.m.

Location: El Jefe Cat Lounge, 3025 North Campbell Avenue, Suite 141

Cost: $15.00 tickets; bring your own drinks

What’s going on: Calling all cat lovers! Bring some friends and come test your knowledge about furry felines. This event is for adults only and you’re encouraged to BYOB if you’re 21 and up.

5. Beers + Bikes

Date and Time: Saturday, July 16 at 5:00 p.m.

Location: Meet at Button Brew House, 6800 N Camino Martin, Ste. 160.

Cost: Free; bring money to purchase beer. 

What’s going on: This is a great way to meet some friends, get active, and enjoy a pint or two. The group will meet at Button Brew House and then cycle on the loop to 1912 Brewing Co. You’ll stop for some beers, then head back for the food truck fare to get a bite to eat. 

6. Water Wednesdays

Date and Time: Every Wednesday in July and August at 11:00 a.m.

Location: Children’s Museum Tucson, 200 S. Sixth Avenue

Cost: $11 (Cost of admission)

What’s going on: Stay cool this summer by joining the Children’s Museum with Water Wednesdays. They’re hosting fun water activities in the courtyard each week through the summer.

7. Family Saturdays with Watershed Management Group

Date and Time: Saturday, July 16 from 8:00-11:00 a.m.

Location: 1137 N Dodge Boulevard

Cost: Free

What’s going on: Just because school’s out doesn’t mean there’s nothing to learn! The Watershed Management Group presents a family-friendly outing that teaches children about water conservation and greywater through activities, songs and stories, and hands-on demonstrations.

8. Puppy Yoga

Date and Time: Saturday, July 16 from 1:00-2:00 p.m.

Location: Barefoot Studio, 7053 N. Oracle Road, Suite 200

Cost: $20.00

What’s going on: Get some exercise and puppy cuddles in on the same morning! All proceeds to this hour-long beginner’s yoga session will go to Pathways for Paws.

9. National Day of the Cowboy

Date and Time: Saturday, July 23 from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

Location: Empire Ranch, E Empire Ranch Road, Sonoita

Cost: Free

What’s going on: This family-friendly event celebrates National Day of the Cowboy out at Empire Ranch. There will be western demonstrations, vendors, and engaging tours of the historic Ranch house.

10. Beach Party Palooza

Date and Time: Monday, July 25 from 5:00-8:00 p.m.

Location: Firetruck Brewing Company, 9630 North Oracle Road 

Cost: $15.00 in advance, $20.00 at the door.

What’s going on: Hosted by the Oro Valley Social & Business club, this event is a great way to meet some new friends and network with other local businesses. Your ticket includes admission, music from two brands, raffle prizes, and four beer tastings. Wear your “beachiest” outfit to be entered to win the grand prize!

11. Summer Night Market

Date and Time: Friday, July 29 from 6:00-10:00 p.m.

Location: MSA Annex, 267 S. Avenida del Convento

Cost: Free to attend; bring money to shop

What’s going on: Who doesn’t love an open-air market with your favorite local vendors? There will be 60+ vendors so you can eat, drink, and shop the night away.

12. The Greatest Showman Sing-Along

Date and Time: Saturday, July 30 at 730 p.m.

Location: Fox Theater, 17 W. Congress Street

Cost: $10.00 for adults, $7.50 for youth, seniors, military, or students. 

What’s going on: You’ll need to do some vocal cord warm-ups for this! Enjoy the original musical, The Greatest Showman, on the big screen. There will be lyrics on-screen so you can sing along to every song. 

13. Luau at the Winery

Date and Time: Saturday, July 30 from 2:00-5:00 p.m.

Location: AZ Hops and Vines, 3450 Highway 82, Sonoita 

Cost: General admission starts at $10.00

What’s going on: Wine slushies, hula dancers, live music, and a roast pig—what more do you need for a summer afternoon? Come join the fun at AZ Hops and Vines and get a taste of Island life.
