If you’ve spent any time at The Post, you’re probably aware that our mission to open the best coworking space in Tucson was a passion project from day one—and it wasn’t without its challenges.

We came into the industry in a serendipitous way, faced a ton of adversity in the process, but were able to stay the course and finally open our doors. But while we’ve talked about how we opened The Post, we’ve talked less about is the reasons why we decided to.

So, I thought I’d share a little bit about why we set out to open the best coworking space in Tucson.

Identifying an Opportunity to Open the Best Coworking Space in Tucson

GWA Conference – Flight Group with Everything Coworking 2018

Both Dan and I worked from home prior to the thought of starting The Post. Eventually, Dan began renting a small workspace downtown and was commuting almost every day. But on most days, he didn’t want to drive down and pay for overly expensive parking.

So, initially, it was Dan who started researching coworking spaces. And, from there, the Global Workspace Association conference got us hooked.

Eventually, we joined Jamie Russo’s Everything Coworking start-up school. The people were incredible and we fell in love with the coworking industry in 2017.

That’s when we knew it was time to really pursue opening a space.

Diving Into Market Research

Downtown Works, San Diego, CA

Once we had made the decision to open our own space, we set out traveling and touring all the spaces we could find across the country.

It was incredibly exciting. We drew a ton of inspiration from all the people we met and the spaces we saw. We looked at what we loved the most, analyzed what we thought could be improved upon, and began to formulate this idea of what the best coworking space in Tucson might look like.

Building a Space Where We’d Want to Work

At the same time that we were doing our research on the coworking industry, both Dan and I were feeling isolated when working from home.

So, when we thought about what the best coworking space in Tucson would entail, we really approached it from the perspective of creating a workspace where we’d love to be.

We created the space for ourselves, exactly how we thought would inspire us to work better, but also as a means for us to connect and collaborate with others. We wanted to focus on the human element of coworking because it’s what we were missing.

Taking the First Steps Toward Building The Post

Construction Days 2019

We took a ton of time searching around Tucson for the best potential coworking space we could find.

Luckily, Dan’s background is in commercial real estate. He was actually the listing broker for the building that The Post now resides in. And, believe it or not, it had been vacant for over a decade before we took it on for ourselves.

From there, we took all of our favorite parts of each space we had seen across the United States and began incorporating them into the design and layout of the space that we wanted to build.

We put a ton of thought into the design of the space and made sure we built it out to meet every one of our criteria for the best coworking space in Tucson.

Looking at Where We Are Today

Fast forward to today, more than 700 people have used our space, from private offices to coworking, dedicated desks, and meeting rooms as well as our lounge and patio areas.

And I can honestly say it’s been the most fulfilling period of my life.

I never thought I’d connect with so many people like ourselves. It’s made our lives feel even more meaningful. Even going through the COVID-19 pandemic, it was so much easier to manage with people around us that were going through the same thing as us.

As solo professionals or freelancers or small business owners, having The Post has increased our motivation, given us inspiration, and provided us with all the tools and resources we need to be more productive and our work life is more structured. Plus, it’s just ten minutes from our home.

When we set out to open the best coworking space in Tucson, that’s exactly the experience we hoped we could provide for other professionals like ourselves.

And we truly believe that we’ve achieved that goal.

If you’re curious about why The Post is the best coworking space in Tucson, come down, say hello, and take a tour. We think you’ll love it as much as we do.
