For base metals mining company Ero Copper Corp., headquartered in Vancouver, B.C., finding a satellite office in Tucson was a unique situation.

They needed to find a space that was centrally located, provided outstanding value, and offered top-quality services and amenities to support their business.

Here’s how we helped.

Unique Office Needs

Finding office space in Tucson wasn’t a cut-and-dry situation for the Tucson based team of Ero Copper.

The Company is headquartered in Vancouver, Canada, with operations in Brazil.

“We typically travel extensively,” says Makko DiFilippo, Vice President, Corporate Development. “We have global operations and are uniquely positioned to operate effectively anywhere. For me, Tucson is a flexible location that allows access to different geographies fairly efficiently, particularly South America, and there is a great network of mining technical professionals here in the southwestern U.S. It’s a great place to be based out of.”

When they started searching for an office space in Tucson they had a few key parameters to work within.

“Our team here has worked out of office spaces all throughout Tucson,” explains Makko. “Given the nature of our business, we needed something that was both private and confidential while still giving us access to a professional community.”

Location within the city was also an important factor in their decision.

Finding the Right Space at The Post Workspaces

After exploring a number of different workspaces, Makko found The Post Workspaces.

“We have rented office space all around Tucson, including sub-lets,” says Makko. “We’ve hopped around for years looking for the right place and right fit. Tucson needed something like The Post.”

Location, Location, Location

One of the key selling points for Makko was The Post’s location in the city.

He explains, “Being on the north side of town has a different feel to it. When we found The Post, we knew it’s where we wanted to be. We’ve seen a lot of competitors in the Tucson area but The Post has done a really incredible job here — not just with the space, but with the atmosphere as well.”

A Diverse Network of Professionals

Part of that atmosphere, Makko says, is attributable to the diverse community of professionals who work at The Post.

“Being out of downtown, it’s a pretty diverse group of people here,” says Makko. “Business-wise, age-wise, it’s a very comprehensive spectrum of professionals. There are people who are doing all kinds of different things, from start-ups and small businesses to publicly traded companies.”

An Inspiring Space to Work

Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Makko spent a lot of time working from home — something that became challenging over time.

Makko elaborates, “Between the pandemic and traveling, I’ve done the work-from-home thing for a long time. There are some advantages to it but it definitely gets old. I also have two very young daughters at home, which can make it tough to focus, to say the least. Having a place like this is more intellectually inspiring than the home office.”

It’s All In the Details

Makko also attributes his positive experience at The Post to the finer details of the space.

“At The Post, everything is purpose-built for coworking and private offices. It feels like it was designed for you. Dan and Chelle have been very thoughtful about every detail — from sit-stand desks to individual thermostats in each office and extra soundproofing, which is important for us. They put a lot of thought into empowering every member to have their own unique space.” Makko explains.

Even working out of Boston for a couple of years, the co-working spaces were retrofitted and there was no real forethought put into the details of each unit. That’s the biggest differentiating factor of any coworking space I’ve been at — not just in Tucson, but anywhere.”

“It’s great being able to tailor our experience,” says Makko. “We appreciate being able to shut the door when we need to have a meeting or take a call, but also being able to interact with a pretty vibrant group of people who are all out there getting their work done. The Post gives you privacy when you need it and community when you want it.”
