Summer is in full swing, bringing with it a ton of fun events, markets, and things to do in Tucson.

So, if you’re looking for some amazing activities to partake in, here are eight options happening in Tucson and Oro Valley this month. 

1. Picture Rocks Food Fest

Date and Time: Friday, July 16, 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Location: 6780 N. Sandario Road

Cost: Free to attend but bring money for food!

What’s going on: Stop by the biggest food event in West Tucson! You’ll find a huge selection of deliciousness from many of Tucson’s best local food businesses offering menu items from every imaginable cuisine. In addition to great eats, you can also catch a great sunset, listen to live music, and let the kids play. 

2. Summer Night Market at the Brewery 

Date and Time: Sunday, July 11, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Location: Crooked Tooth Brewing Co., 228 E. Sixth St.

Cost: Free to attend but bring money for purchases.

What’s going on: Shop with over 10 local creators, makers and artists while enjoying a local brew from Crooked Tooth Brewing Co. La Colombiana food truck will be there serving up tasty bites in case you get hungry from 4-8 p.m.

3. Unwind with a Happy Hour  

Date and Time: Whenever works for you! 

Location: Numerous options

Cost: Menu dependent 

What’s going on: Reward your day of hard work at one of Tucson’s incredible happy hour options. We rounded up five of our favorites including Union Public House, Culinary Dropout, and Trident Grill.  

4. Black Cat Bones at Chicago Bar 

Date and Time: Friday, July 16 at 8:00 p.m.

Location: Chicago Bar, 5954 E. Speedway

Cost: Free!

What’s going on: If you love rock, blues, and jazz, you’re going to love this event. Grab some friends and stop by Black Cat Bones at Chicago Bar for some cold drinks and great tunes. 

5. Community Block Party Pop-Up

Date and Time: Saturday, July 17, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Location: Boss Women Unite, 1130 E. Pennsylvania St.

Cost: Free to attend

What’s going on: Join Boss Women Unite for an awesome free event featuring live music, performances, and delicious food, all while helping the community and support local #bosswomen and vendors. At the event, Boss Women Unite will also be handing out backpacks and school supplies to the kids in the neighborhood who are heading back to school. If you’d like to donate, visit the event page on Facebook to directly message the organizers, or drop your items off in person from Monday to Friday, 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. 

6. Coven Night Market 

Date and Time: Saturday, July 17, from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Location: Woolly Fern, 3 doors west of When + Where Co at 4401 E. Speedway

Cost: Varies by menu 

What’s going on: Looking for a quirky event unlike anything else in Tucson? Then stop by the Coven Night Market, a free family-friendly market emphasizes the unusual and natural science. This curious market is set within a gorgeous oddities store that encourages you to come learn. 

7. Oro Valley Movie on the Lawn: Sonic the Hedgehog

Date and Time: Saturday, July 24, from 7:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. 

Location: Oro Valley Community & Recreation Center, 10555 N. La Cañada Drive.

Cost: Free!

What’s going on: If you’re looking for a fun night out with the family, bring a blanket or some lawn chairs and stop by oro Valley Movies on the Lawn for a free screening of Sonic the Hedgehog. In this family-favorite, Sonic tries to navigate the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound best friend — a human named Tom Wachowski. They must soon join forces to prevent the evil Dr. Robotnik from capturing Sonic and using his powers for world domination.

8. Take a Staycation in Tucson
